Happy Birthday Maria

Happy Birthday Babe

I want to tell the world

Proverbs 18:22 “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.”

Ecclesiastes 9:9 “Enjoy life with the woman whom you love all the days of your fleeting life which He has given to you under the sun; for this is your reward in life and in your toil in which you have labored under the sun.”

God gives us many pleasures and enjoyments while here on earth as we labor under the sun.

I’m so glad He gave me Maria to to enjoy life and its battles, heartaches, trials, we both have Joy knowing our future is with the Son.

He accomplished what He came for

Heb 1:1-3

1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,
2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.
3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

The apostle Paul says the same thing in Colossians 1:15, “He is the image of the invisible God.” Here, unlike Hebrews 1:3, the Greek word translated “image” is eikon, from which we get the English term icon, meaning a precise copy or reproduction. But both verses communicate the same truth. Christ possesses the essential nature of God and attributes of God. In His being, Jesus is what God is, and in His person He displays that essence to everyone who sees Him. Jesus is God

When you enjoy your family and friends today remember who was born to die for your sins and the consequences of your sins.

Jesus Christ, God in the flesh accomplished what He came for. In John 19:30 John writes the words of Christ ‘It is finished!’ once and for all He paid the price for sins for everyone who would ever repent and believe in Him.

That is why the writer in Hebrews can say He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, Christ work is done.

Repent, believe and place your trust in the little baby born to die today for your sins, so someday you can spend eternity with Him and see Him face to face in all His glory.

I want to thank my wife’s family here in Texas, Mike and Lori, their beautiful daughters Aubrey and Gracie for their hospitality, generosity and for their love they have given Maria and I during our visit here in Texas.

Jesus is God, give Him honor, glory and praise today and everyday.

Meditate, practice, pray

You must meditate and dwell upon what you read;
otherwise your pains and mine will be lost. The more any
man is in the contemplation of truth, the more deep and
firm impression is made upon his heart by truth. Heavenly
meditation brings out the sweetness that is in divine truths.
Not those who get most—but those who keep most, are
richest. So not those who hear most, or read most—but
those who meditate most, are most edified and enriched.

You must also practice and live out what you read. To
read much and practice nothing—is to hunt much and catch
nothing. Ah! what cause have most to sigh, that they have
heard so much, and read so much—and yet done so little!

You must also pray over what you read. Many read much,
and pray little, and therefore get little by all they read. Galen
writes of a fish called Uranoscopos, that has but one eye,
which looks continually up to heaven. When a Christian has
one eye upon his book—the other should be looking up to
heaven for a blessing upon what he reads!

The church’s greatest need!

The greatest thing the church needs in this time,
is God’s Holy Spirit.

You all get up plans and say, “Now, if the church
were altered a little bit, it would go on better.”

You think if there were different ministers, or different church
order, or something different, then all would be well.

No, dear friends, the mistake does not lie there, it is that
we need more of the Spirit- his power and influence.

But now people are saying, “This must be altered, and that must
be altered.” But it would go no better unless God the Spirit
should come to bless us.

You may have the same ministers, and they shall be a thousand
times more useful for God, if God is pleased to bless them.

You shall have the same deacons, they shall be a thousand times
more influential than they are now, when the Spirit is poured
down upon them from on high.

That is the church’s great lack, and until that lack be supplied,
we may reform, and reform, and still be just the same.

We need the Holy Spirit, and then whatever faults there
may be in our churches, they can never materially impede
the progress of Christianity, when once the Spirit of the
Lord God is in our midst.

All we need is the Spirit of God.

From Spurgeon’s, INDEPENDENCE OF CHRISTIANITY

God has the best plan for church growth.

Paul tell’s Timothy to Preach the Word (2Timothy 4:1-2)

Then we let the Holy Spirit do its work on people.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Acts chapters 3,4 Peter preaches to the men Of Israel.

Acts4:4 But many of those who had heard the message believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.

Preach the Word!!!!

That’s how you grow a church.

FUNNY, ISN’T IT?

Funny how a $100 “looks” so big when you take it to church,
but so small when you take it to the mall.

Funny how long it takes to serve God for an hour,
but how quickly a team plays 60 minutes of basketball.

Funny how long a couple of hours spent at church are,
but how short they are when watching a movie.

Funny how we can’t think of anything to say when we pray, but
don’t have difficulty thinking of things to talk about to a friend.

Funny how we get thrilled when a baseball game goes into extra innings,
but we complain when a sermon is longer than the regular time.

Funny how hard it is to read a chapter in the bible,
but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a best selling novel.

Funny how people want to get a front seat at any game or concert,
but scramble to get a back seat at church services.

Funny how we need 2 or 3 weeks advance notice to fit a church
event into our schedule, but can adjust our schedule for other
events at the last moment.

Funny how hard it is for people to learn a simple gospel well
enough to tell others, but how simple it is for the same people
to understand and repeat gossip.

Funny how everyone wants to go to heaven provided they do not
have to believe, or to think, or to say, or do anything.

Funny how you can send a thousand ‘jokes’ through e-mail and
they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages
regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

FUNNY, ISN’T IT?
Are you laughing?
Are you thinking?

It’s just another name or is it?

Matthew 1:21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Christmas to me has become so hectic and fast paced. Do we really know the true meaning of Christmas? Does anybody really stop and think about the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?

Christmas is simple, with a simple meaning, that God became a man, was given the name Jesus to save sinners from their sins. That is it, period.

What about the name of Jesus. Let’s look at verse 21 again

Matthew 1:21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Why? Because it is Jesus who will save His people from their sins.

Jesus gives salvation to His people. He saves them from their sins.

Act 4:12 “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”

The name Jesus is used over 700 times in the New Testament. It is a form of the Hebrew word Yeshoshua, Joshua, Jeshua, Jehosuah. It means Yahweh or God will save. Luke 2:11 says He would be born a Savior. Mark 10:45 says the Son of Man is come to save. Luke 19:10, “He is come to save. He shall save His people from their sins.”

The Apostle Paul writing in Ephesians chapter 1:7 says, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses.”

Now the thought here is that men are sinners and that sin is a damning reality from which man needs to be saved, or delivered, or rescued. And Jesus came into the world to save us from our sins.

Look at Ephesians chapter 2:1-6

1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,
2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.
3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

We were in a state of spiritual death and living a life according to this world and being apart from Christ, by nature we were children of wrath, God’s wrath.

Jesus saves us from the ultimate consequence of our sins, namely eternal damnation.

He also saves us from our daily and future sin that remains in our life. (Romans 6-7).

He delivers all who repents, believes and places their trust in Him from the ultimate damnation that sin requires.

Salvation is being rescued from the consequence of sin.

At the Last Supper, as Jesus gathered with His disciples, the night before He was to be taken prisoner and then crucified, it says He took the cup and He said regarding that cup, that cup was representative of the blood of the covenant, His own blood, which is poured out, He said in Matthew 26:28, for the forgiveness of sins. In Acts 13:38 and 39 the Scripture says, “Through Him…that is Jesus…forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things.”

You see, He was a child born to provide forgiveness for sins.

1John 2:12 “I’m writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for His name’s sake.”

Just because of who He is, just for His own purpose, just for His own glory, He forgave all our sins. What a blessed reality that Jesus Christ came into the world to forgive sin.

It doesn’t mean that we don’t commit sin, we do. It doesn’t mean that sin won’t have harmful effects in this life, it does. It doesn’t mean we won’t reap what we sow because we probably will. Its doesn’t mean that He has a wonderful plan for our life, because He might not.

What it does mean is for true believers we will never pay the ultimate penalty for sin. It’s been paid. We will never die eternally, we will never spend a moment in hell, and we will go from this life into heaven. We will see our Savior face to face in all His glory.

So please take time to think about what the true meaning of Christmas is. And give Him thanks that you are one of His beloved children.

That is Christmas to me

Paris Reidhead Former CMA Pastor Said

“If I had my way, I would declare a moratorium on public preaching of ‘the plan of salvation’ in America for one to two years. Then I would call on everyone who has use of the airwaves and the pulpits to preach the holiness of God, the righteousness of God, and the Law of God, until sinners would cry out, ‘What must we do to be saved?’ Then I would take them off in a corner and whisper the gospel to them. Don’t use John 3:16. Such drastic action is needed because we have gospel hardened generation of sinners by telling them how to be saved before they have any understanding why they need to be saved.”
