I guess I’ll see you later

John 11:23-27
23    Jesus said to her,”Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, 26    and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” 27    She “said to Him, “Yes, Lord; I have believed that You are the Christ, the Son of God, even He who comes into the world.”

lenny3I love the promise of verse 25 “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies. The believers who have died before Christ’s coming will be raised from the dead.

Neither life nor death can separate from the love of Christ Romans 8:35-39

Just something to think about!

lenny2I have had a lot of time to think and pray lately. I have seen and heard so many people say that they are Christians, but their mouths and actions say something else. In Matthew 3:8 “Therefore bear fruit in keeping with repentance; and in James 2:20, “that faith without works is dead.” We can not get saved by works (we are saved by grace through faith)  but it’s that fruit that we bear as Christians that validates our Faith as believers in Christ. We can not just believe in Christ, anybody can do that. James said even “The devils believe and they tremble.” It’s not enough to pray a prayer and believe, unless it results in a changed life for Christ and a commitment to Him that bears fruit. Jesus said in Matthew 7:16 “You will know them by their fruits.

“The biggest mission field in America is professing-Christianity”. John MacArthur

“But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who it was that would betray Him. And He was saying, “For this reason I have said to you, that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted him from the Father.” As a result of this many of His disciples withdrew and were not walking with Him anymore.” John 6:64-66

“Once we agree with God that we exist for His pleasure and His glory, we can accept whatever comes into our lives as part of His sovereign will and purpose. We will not resent, resist, or reject the ‘hard things,’ but embrace them as friends, sovereignly designed by God to make us like Jesus and to bring glory to Himself.”- Nancy Leigh DeMoss

Are You Prepared to Die?

200701_138_spurgeon3From Spurgeon’s sermon, “Are You Prepared to Die?”

As the bridegroom longs for the marriage day, and as the
bride waits until she is joined unto her husband in wedlock,
even so our spirits wait for God.

As the exile pants to be delivered,
and the galley-slave to be separated from his oar,
so wait we to be set free for glory and immortality.

As she that mourns her absent husband pines for his return,
as the child longs to reach his father’s house
and to see his father’s face, so do we.

We will bid adieu to dear ones-
they shall have the tears, but we shall have the joy,
for we go to the islands of the blest,
the land of the hereafter,
the home of the sanctified,
to dwell with God for ages.

Christian Contentment

“Christian contentment is that sweet,
inward, quiet, gracious frame of spirit,
which freely submits to and delights in
God’s wise and fatherly disposal in
every condition”.

The Golden Chain of Redemption

Just something to think and meditate on.

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified (Romans 8:28-30).

A little of this and a little of that

lennyArticles, Sermons, web-sites and thoughts from other people I’ve read through out the week.

Quote of the week. Speaking of Paul Washer, who she heard for the first time ” Who is this guy, he can preach, only if our pulpits were filled by passionate men like him who fears God more than man” Joanne Walts (my mom)

Please continue to pray for my mom, her cancer is spreading quickly and she is in a lot of pain. She keeps praying that the Lord will take her home, please pray God’s will be done and He is glorified through her sickness and suffering. The Nurses and Doctors keep getting a healthy dose of the Gospel from my mom when she’s strong enough, so pray that seeds are planted and God causes the growth and starts salvation, for salvation is from the Lord Jonah 2:9.

Here is a sermon from Spurgeon called Salvation of the Lord.

Here is a article from the NY Times Obama needs 5 Pastors.

Things I Don’t Want To Hear Behind Me in Church

Nearly half of all men and one-third of women have lied about what they have read to try to impress friends or potential partners, a survey suggests. Read the rest of the story Here.

The power is not in the methods or the means

tozer_cropYou know, the Church started out with a Bible, then it got a hymnbook, and for years that was it-a Bible and a hymnbook. The average church now certainly wouldn’t be able to operate on just a hymnbook and the Bible. Now we have to have all kinds of truck. A lot of people couldn’t serve God at all without at least a vanload of equipment to keep them happy. Some of these attractions that we have to win people and keep them coming may be fine or they may be cheap.

They may be elevated or they may be degrading. They may be artistic or they may be coarse-it all depends upon who is running the show! But the Holy Spirit is not the center of attraction, and the Lord is not the one who is in charge. We bring in all sorts of antiscriptural and unscriptural claptrap to keep the people happy and keep them coming. As I see it, the great woe is not the presence of these religious toys and trifles-but the fact that they have become a necessity, and the presence of the Eternal Spirit is not in our midst! Jesus Died-Paul Washer video

200701_138_spurgeon2Loved before time!

Jesus loved us before the world was.

He is no new lover of his people’s souls, but he
loved them before the day-star knew its place, and
before the planets began their mighty revolutions.

Every soul whom Jesus loves now,
he loved for ever and ever.

What a wondrous love was that —
infinite, unbounded, everlasting,
which led him to bear our sins, and suffer our penalties,
that he might redeem us from going down into the pit!
-Spurgeon
