Using Facebook for God’s Glory

What is the chief end of man? Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever!

“If you don’t feel strong desires for the manifestation for the glory of God, it is not because you have drunk deeply and are satisfied. It’s because you nibbled so long at the table of the world. Your soul is stuffed with small things, and there is no room for the great.” John Piper Hunger for God

The New Year

Here is a funny quote I found, which has to do with New Year resolutions.  Happy New Year and may God be glorified more in 2012!

“A New Year’s resolution is something that goes in one Year and out the other.”

Meditating on Scripture

“Remember that it is not hasty reading, but serious meditation on holy and heavenly truths, that makes them prove sweet and profitable to the soul. It is not the mere touching of the flower by the bee that gathers honey, but her abiding for a time on the flower that draws out the sweet. It is not he that reads most, but he that meditates most, that will prove to be the choicest, sweetest, wisest and strongest Christian.” Thomas Brooks

The Talking Book

“The Bible sanctifies and moulds the mind into the image of Christ. You cannot expect to grow in grace if you do not read the Scriptures. If you are not familiar with the word, you cannot expect to become like Him that spoke it. Oh, be much with the holy word of God, and you will be holy. Be much with the silly novels of the day, and the foolish trifles of the hour, and you will degenerate into vapid wasters of your time. But be much with the solid teachings of God’s word, and you will become solid and substantial men and women: drink them in, and feed upon them, and they shall produce in you a Christ-likeness, at which the world shall stand astonished.” Spurgeon’s, “The Talking Book”

God’s True Peacemakers

“The person who is not willing to disrupt and disturb in God’s name cannot be a peacemaker. To come to terms on anything less than God’s truth and righteousness is to settle for a truce – - which confirms sinners in their sin and may leave them even further from the kingdom. Those who in the name of love or kindness or compassion try to witness by appeasement and compromise of God’s Word will find that their witness leads away from Him, not to Him. God’s peacemakers will not let a sleeping dog lie if it is opposed to God’s truth; they will not protect the status quo if it is ungodly and unrighteous. They are not willing to make peace at any price. God’s peace comes only in God’s way. Being a peacemaker is essentially the result of a holy life and the call to others to embrace the gospel of holiness”. John MacArthur, The MacArthur New Testament Commentary (Matthew 1-7)

The Narrow Way to Life

Oh, how we ought to search our hearts here today. Have I come to this place of total commitment in my life? Have I yielded my life to the sovereign lordship of Him who dies upon the cross for me. I want you to know that the gates of paradise have been swung open to you. The narrow gate is open and if you will take a step of faith and come through this narrow gate, and commit your life to Him. Despite the strength of His words. He also says, “him who comes unto Me I will in no wise cast out.”

13 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 14 For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:13, 14
