A Divine Appointment

I remember that day as clear as I am here now, that day when the planes flew into those towers. I was in shock, I felt vulnerable and really I felt uncertainty in my life. I mean when for me? When will that day come for me to die?

And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him. Hebrews 9:27, 28

This is a real simple reality everyone must die, the movie stars we idolize to the poor beggar on the street, everyone must die, both you and me. We all have this date with death, in Genesis we read he lived then he died many times… Everyone dies and then judgment.

In those verses in Hebrews I see three very clear truths

  1. I must die
  2. Am I ready to die
  3. Christ died for my sins

I remembered when my father died back in 1994… He lived most his life without Christ, but cancer was literally eating him away. My dad realized death was soon, he knew his life was short and he knew he needed life before he died. My dad realized that he could not atone for his sins, though he was as good as dead, he needed life. You see folks, he who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. 1 John 5:11, 12 and 13 Not all men will die that second death “he who has the Son has the life: even after death!

Whether we die before Christ comes back or we are still here Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. 1 John 3:2 He is going to deliver us. But Christ will not come to settle the sin for anyone who has not repented of their sins and made Him Lord of their life, to them He is coming as a judge. John 3:36 “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

The question I must ask is, are you eagerly awaiting Him who took your place. or are you all about the business of living your best life now. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21 When I think about 9/11 I think about how short life is and the words of the apostle Paul are ringing in my ear” Behold, now is “THE ACCEPTABLE TIME,” behold, now is “THE DAY OF SALVATION ” For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers. Repent and  be a believer. Mark 1:15

Soli Deo Gloria
