Knowledge, Prayer and Obedience
As many of you know I’m going through Professor Horners reading plan and it seems like I have gone through the book of Proverbs five or six times already, and every single time something else pops out at me. I was reading chapter 15 on New Years Day while pondering on the New Year (2013) and how I could do things differently this year from last year.

Today’s reflection was very inciteful. I will be looking forward to you expounding on each point.
In regards to the first virtue on the list that you will be addressing–KNOWLEDGE———-
I am reading a devotional for this year called”Everyday with Jesus”. It is a different reflection everyday written by what they call the “greatest Christian writers of all time.” Today’s selection was taken from the writings of a man named Bernard of Clairvaux. I am not familiar with this person, but the entry was centered on the scripture found in 1Corinthians 8:1-3–
“Now about food sacrifices to idols: We know that all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. The man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know.”
His summary on this particular section of scripture was
1. Dignity is nothing without knowledge, and knowledge can even be a stumbling block without virtue..
2. Knowledge loses its’ dignity and becomes an obstacle if it is used for evil rather than for God.
3. Pursue knowledge, but let your knowledge be used for God’s glory. Let holiness be your guide.
Anyway, thought perhaps this might be a nice tie in to your lesson for today as well as tomorrow .
