Buy truth, and do not sell it, Get wisdom and instruction and understanding. Proverbs 23:23
I read those words this morning during my time in the word and I couldn’t help but to think of my Mom who always told me to, with great eagerness examine the Scriptures Acts 17:11, to diligently present myself before God as a workman, work hard at it, as not to be ashamed before God. 2 Timothy 2:15.
To grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18. It should to be desired more than honey and pure gold Psalm 19:9, 10. To be a God pleaser and not a man pleaser… but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who examines our hearts. 1 Thessalonians 2:4
Do we buy it with money? No, I can tell you it’s free… I believe here it means to get it at any cost.
What are the cost? That depends on you and how far you are willing to go to obtain truth, wisdom. instruction and understanding. Are you willing to sell everything to get it Matthew 13:44-46, to lose friendships and offices to keep it, to have contempt poured on you Luke 4:28, 29?
Are you willing to be picked on and pointed out as a closed-minded, dogmatic, antithetical non-conformist?
Are you willing to be that one intrepid who stand up for truth in the face of opposition?
If you are, then
Buy truth, and do not sell it
and that’s a beautiful thing!
Soli Deo Gloria
