Bear fruit, more fruit, then much fruit

As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. 6 “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. 7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 “My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. 9 “Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. 10 “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. 11 “These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.

lennyAs I read this I couldn’t get past verse 3 “You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Just like the Disciples had been cleansed by the message, so we’re also dirty prior to salvation, spiritually dead Ephesians 2:1 and the Word  preached, proclaimed is the formula that God uses to save us 1 Corinthians 1:21 and faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. Romans 10:17 and by the power of God, Romans 1:16. That’s why Preachers and Teacher should just Preach the Word 2 Timothy 4:2 as Paul told Timothy, the whole counsel of God explained Paul to the Ephesian Elders Acts 20:26-27 and let the word do it’s job Hebrews 4:12. Then God says His word will not come back empty or void and that it will accomplish His desire and purpose Isaiah 55:11, but maybe we don’t like His purpose or desire and we think we can do better with our own methods. But the Word says there is a way which seems right to a man, but leads to death Proverbs 14:12, Matthew 7:13-15.

Every true believer bears fruit, verse 2 every branch that bears fruit, I have to ask where does this fruit come from ? can it come from dead wood, No, there is no such thing as a Christian without fruit, John the Baptist said bear fruit in keeping with repentance Matthew 3:8 and in Matthew 3:10 He said this “The axe is already laid at the root of the trees; therefore every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” and Jesus said in Luke 6:43 “For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit, nor, on the other hand, a bad tree which produces good fruit.”

All True Believers who abide in Christ (the vine) bear fruit and as the Father prunes us we bear more fruit. God uses His word to prune us, trials, persecution as the psalmist says Psalm 119:67,71 Psalm 94:12. Here is the great thing about this, as we keep abiding in Christ and His Word we keep bearing fruit, verse 5 says much fruit. We bear fruit, more fruit, then much fruit and Jesus says apart from Him we can do nothing. Look what He says in verse 8 “My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.” Those of us who are in Christ, the true believer can glorify God as we put God’s glory on display through our walk with Christ. Galatians 5:22-23 but the fruit of the Spirit is…..for next time.
