Truth and God must be Earnestly Sought

As the new year approaches, my prayer is many will have a new desire for God’s word. Not only reading it, but earnestly seeking it. The next few posts, as we come to the end of 2013 will be some encouragements and helpful words to carry out this.

As A.B. Simpson rightly said:

“God has hidden every precious thing in such a way that it is a reward to the diligent, a prize to the earnest, but a disappointment to the slothful soul. All nature is arrayed against the lounger and the idler. The nut is hidden in its thorny case; the pearl is buried beneath the ocean waves; the gold is imprisoned in the rocky bosom of the mountains; the gem is found only after you crush the rock which encloses it; the very soil gives its harvest as a reward to the laboring farmer. So truth and God must be earnestly sought.”

cutting straight

2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved
to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed,
accurately handling the word of truth. (NASB)

and that’s a beautiful thing!
Soli Deo Gloria

I give you a hardy “AMEN” to that Lenny. His Word just keeps on giving. Many times after reading the same scripture over and over a gleam of light comes and shows me a truth I had not seen the first ten times reading it.

  2. I love the times when He leads me to a small nugget that leads to another and another and and more and more, then WHAM! He drives home some wonderful truth that has been baffling me for quite awhile.
